Project Hammer

As you know, we of the Asatru faith have many adherents in the Military, and have been working for some time for the right to place our symbol (The Mjolnir (or Thor's Hammer) on the graves of our fallen warriors. The Asatru Folk Assembly has put together a petition as part of our campaign. This is not a MySpace "Cause" or another online poll, but a legitimate petition which we aim to present to the Department of Veterans Affairs.

Whether or not, you are an Asatruar, I hope you will support this cause as a basic right for our military personnel. Please sign the petition at:

You can also find more information at

Thank you for your support,

The above information was from http://www.hammerproject.org/. I am a wife of a heathen soldier who is currently serving a tour in Iraq. If he gives the ultimate sacrifice while at war, I know that he could rest peacefully knowing that a symbol of his faith was on his tombstone. PLEASE PASS THIS ALONG TO EVERYONE YOU KNOW TO SIGN THE PETITION!!!

Hail the Folk!
Hail the Warrior!

Methods

What methods do you follow when you do a rune reading?

I've just finnished reading A Handbook of Rune Magic which is the first book that I've read on the topic; and I was amazed at the complexity involved when it comes to rune reading. For instance the book mentioned that the "vikti" should where specific clothing such as red, black, or white cloathing, and possess various objects such as "a runic bracteate" and "runic wands."  Although the book also stresses that the "vikti" should decide on his/ her own unique methods when it comes to rune reading.

Do you use any of the above objects? and is there a simpler method for a bigginer "vikti?

Hiya

Just the intro post :) Hi from England. I joined simply because i have recently got a set of runes, and over the time would like to learn more about them than the tiny "what they mean" sheet I got. :)

An interpretation question...

Now that I'm comfortable with reading the runes without any sort of book or cheat (at least mostly, sometimes I still need reference), I find myself looking more at *how* I read them.

For most questions, I usually draw three runes and use sort of a "past, present, future", it's not always literally past, present and future...but in my understand it's progressive.

For anyone else who does it this way, or anyone for that matter...do you ever take them out of order?

Say I got Fehu, Berkano and Hagalaz.

In simplest terms would you say this is Wealth/productivity and new birth (new relationship) leading to destruction?

This was an actual reading for a friend, and it all fits perfectly in the situation, especially since I've gotten Hagalaz for one of the parties involved in the situation before. However, I figured it was a good example of a rather "firm" outcome.

If you generally read them in "order", do you feel there's any situation in which you would take them out of order? Or rather as a group meaning?

I'm sorry if any of this is unclear, I'm not sure how to word it better.

A second questionCollapse )

Thanks in advance.

2 Part Rune Question

2 Part Question

1)      Is there a decent Rune Font download to use in apps word processing, msging programs?

2)      I am making a ‘mat’ to cast my runes and lay tarot on; I am looking for a ‘recipes’(mainly herbal) for divination, clarity, communication, and one that lines in with the spirit world.

Hello

Hello all,

I just joined and wanted to introduce myself, very new to Runes bought my first set over the weekend and have been doing a more intense study of them sense. I have always found the fascinating, both as a divination and tool and as a former language. So please forgive all the typical newbie questions that I might ask.

Blessings

A moment of insight and a question in one..

Hey there, to elder and new.  I joined a while back but have been soo busy that posting has been impossible.  So heres a curve ball of sorts that came to me a few weeks back and I would like opinions on this interpretation.

Isa is a delay rune in the literal sense, usually indicating a stop or delayment of an event or action, right?  Well, its meaning is literally "ice", but during a meditation on this rune, I had an interesting notion come up.   The rune itself brought me images of defensively-used weapons, like staves, swords (specifically), and axe handles,  how they were used in leiu of a shield in many celtic and northern cultures.  Ive lost a bit of detail because -- as i had the epiphany later doing mindless stuff at work -- I couldn't write it all down.

So I guess the question is, magickally or divinatorily, could this rune be a sign of defense or protection under the definition of stop or delay?  Can I add 'prevent' to the interpretation list, as this would seem more appropriate in some readings?

Just a rumination.  Cant wait to hear back

calendar?

I stumbled upon wikipedia's site while looking up info on Runes. This section is devoted to the calendar created with Runes. What is your opinion of it? Since wikipedia has had both positive and negative reviews, I'd like to hear your opinion's on the article.
